Relive Monet’s life, learn about the quite unusual personal life of the founding father of Impressionism, his strong personality, his struggles and his passions and influences.

Our Giverny guided tour includes a visit of the Clos Normand flower garden: each season brings its variety of blooming flowers and trees, you will enjoy a festival of colors: its yellow irises, forget-me-nots, tulips, nasturtiums, lis, peonies, roses to name just a few!

In 1893, Monet created in the gardens at his home in Giverny the water lily pond that inspired his most celebrated works. You will admire the Japanese inspired water garden on the other side of the road, the wisteria covered Japanese bridge and the famous water-lily pond created by deriving the small Ru river.

At the end of his life, Monet reaches the achievement of his career by painting large water lilies, with panels over 6 feet high and 20 to 25 feet wide that he had envisioned to be exposed in an oval shaped room for the public to have the feeling that they were surrounded by the painting (they can be seen  today at the Orangerie museum in Paris, on request with our tour guide on another tour).

On one side of the road there’s the Clos Normand and on the other side the pond, the Japanese bridge, the water lilies, the bamboos, and of course an incredible collection of beautiful flowers depending on the season. Visit the pink house, decorated in the same color schemes that Monet admired and recapture its atmosphere and charms of times past.

Inside Monet’s home, you will be able to dive in the past and see among others the reading room (blue salon), the impressive collection of the artist’s original Japanese prints, the larder (epicerie) the living room/workshop, Monet’s bedchamber, Alice’s bedchamber, Blanche’s recently restored room, the yellow dining room and the blue ceramic kitchen. On the way out from the house we will give you some time if you wish to purchase some souvenirs in the former workshop where Monet painted the big water lilies series at the end of his life.

On the way back to Paris, if time allows, the dive will take you back via a scenic road called “route des crêtes” so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape of the Vexin area.
